Yesterday we attended the Press Launch for FORMAT13 in the very grand Derby Cathedral. The event was lead by Quad Artistic Director and one of FORMATS founders Louise Clements.
“Established in 2004 by Louise Clements and Mike Brown, the biennale festival celebrates the wealth of contemporary practice in international photography and is now one of the UK’s leading non-profit international contemporary festivals of photography and related media.
The theme of FORMAT13 centres on the FACTORY and mass production. This can be understood literally and creatively in terms of process and the transformation of material, live site of production, the products, workers, analogue process, and documentary and so on.”
During the launch we had the chance to see the long and impressive list of events, exhibitions and workshops that will take place across the city from the 7th of March. You can read more about the program on the FORMATFESTIVAL website.
John E. Wright sponsored the festival in 2011 and have been invited back to help with one of the many participation events. We will providing technical support and print equipment and media to help make MOBFORMAT:The Press a unique and engaging project. Working with the new social media photography app EyeEM we will be printing 100s of images submitted from across the globe through the app. Get a free EyeEM account & app on your phone and you can submit your images throughout the festival.
We also hope to be involved in printing some of the many projects that will form the festival and welcome inquiries from photographers and artists taking part. We are always happy to help provide services and creative solutions when we can.
Additionally we are offering a 25% discount from the cost of all PhotoBooks order on our website. Use the voucher code FORMAT13 at the check out. Orders are normally complete within a couple of days so you can create your own journal of festival and have it before it ends.
We will also provide a prize as part of the portfolio review event with the winner selected by Louise from Quad and a member of the team from John E. Wright. We are very much looking forward to the event which puts Derby on an international creative map and brings a wealth of activity and interest to the city.
