Following on from our involvement with The New Walk Gallery, Leicester on their August Sander / Sandergram project at the end of 2012, we were invited to sponsor a prize for Open24, the Leicester City Annual Open Exhibition. We already offer prizes in the Nottingham & Derby Open Exhibitions and find that this is a great way to connect with creative individuals and the audiences of these well attended regional shows. The exhibition was opened by the Mayor of Leicester, Sir Peter Soulsby.

Selecting a prize winner is always challenging and interesting. We have the opportunity to view the work before the preview evening and select an artist (or artists) that we feel would benefit from access to the types of service we offer and allow then to experiment with ideas without worrying about cost. This year we offered a prize of £200.00 to cover printing services offered by our local branch.

This years chosen winners are Roger & Danièle Bradley who exhibited two pieces. Both are photographic works, the one above being Berlin Hauptbahnhof, 2010 Photograph on Archival Paper, the one below being Growing Old Playfully in Norfolk, 2012 Photograph on Archival paper.

We hope the artists are able to make good use of the prize and look forward to meeting them and seeing more of their work.

There is a great selection of work on display at the exhibition that shows the huge breadth of talent in the region. The exhibition on now and until the 7th of April at New Walk Museum & Art Gallery .
