About the Grand Tour:

“The Grand Tour is the formative cultural experience of the 18th century traveller – made modern day. It invites you to view the treasures of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire through the eyes of today’s leading artists. It will be presented over two seasons, 4 July – 20 September 2015 and MarchJuly 2016.

Contemporary artists Pablo Bronstein, Turner Prize-winner Simon Starling, Rose English, Peter Blake and architect Rem Koolhaas, will present work for the Grand Tour, drawing on the rich collections in this fascinating region.

A partnership of Nottingham Contemporary, Chatsworth, Derby Museums and The Harley Gallery, together with Experience Nottinghamshire and Visit Peak District & Derbyshire, have created a compelling cultural adventure that is a Grand Tour for our own times. It offers a chance to see great houses, extraordinary art collections and romantic landscapes, interpreted anew by some of today’s most exciting contemporary artists.”

Our brief for this project was to provide a high quality and durable wall covering for one of the four main galleries in the venue. Working with the Curator & Assistant Curator of Nottingham Contemporary and the artists assistant we were required to provide a printed wall covering on all internal walls (in the region of 250 square meters) of the first gallery space, produced to the artists colour specification and providing a seamless visual representation of the intended imagery.

We provided samples of the various available self adhesive wall coverings, based on their surface, colour rendering ability, suitability for the duration of the exhibition and ease of install, the chosen product was then used to provide printed proofs. On approval of these and having received the final image files we supplied PDF proofs showing artwork splits. The site was surveyed and measured and the materials produced at our central production site on the EFI VUTEk GS3250lx in Nottingham.

The install team had two days on site to fit the materials prior to the arrival of the artefacts that would occupy the space.

‘Having worked with John E. Wright on smaller exhibition requirements we were pleased that as a local supplier they had the confidence and expertise to undertake the much larger scale Pablo Bronstein installation. Needless to say that we’re very happy with the work that they’ve produced for this exhibition. It was a great and professional experience, delivered on time by a very organised team.’
