It was a busy evening yesterday at the Leicester Peoples Photographic Gallery with the official opening of the Sandergram exhibition. This is the final part of a collaborative public & educational project that follows on from the August Sander exhibition at the New Walk Museum & Art Gallery.

“Leicester Arts & Museums Learning and Leicester College, Creative Arts and Media Department, Photography has formed an exciting partnership. This has enabled their students to be inspired and energised by the work of August Sander and consequently raise the profile of photography in the city.

The public also have the opportunity to respond and participate in this exciting project by submitting their photographic portrait images to reflect people of the 21st century.”

The exhibition at the LPPG brings together images created by students on the Photography foundation course and public submissions made through the Sandergram website. All of the featured images can now be seen on the Sandergram site and the public are invited to chose their final ‘best in show’ photograph. The winner will receive a cash prize with the award made at the beginning of April. 322 public submissions were received and the standard of the final selection is very high.

John  E. Wright were invited to support the project because of our long standing involvement with the LPPG. We provided the printing services for the original Leicester College selection and for the final public submission set working with the staff at New Walk and at Leicester College.

We welcome inquires from individuals and organisations who are working towards creative solutions, public and private exhibitions and educational projects. Our local staff have a wide variety of skills and a genuine enthusiasm for visual arts projects.
